Tatiana Giacinti

Analog photographer
Des Moines, IA
Tatiana Giacinti, French photographer, born and raised in Greater Paris, fell in love with America’s urban landscapes and scenery a decade ago when she landed for the first time in Princeton, New Jersey, to be an Au Pair for a year. She never really settled in one same location for the past last years, doing many back and forth between the U.S and Europe. But now, she owns her Green Card and lives in Des Moines, Iowa, since October 2015.
Next to her full-time marketing job, she has a deep passion for film photography. She takes photos only with analog cameras that allow dreamy, and lo-fi ambiance. She uses multiple film cameras, from medium format to the fish-eye and compact styles. Her favorite cameras continue to be the LC-A+, Minolta SRT100, Leica M2 and the Canon EOS 3000.
Tatiana traveled intensely around the world throughout her life, saving all her most significant moments on negatives. Her style can be described as street photography, minimalist, shooting favorite subjects from classic cars, palm trees and cactus, buildings, frontages, people from the back, symmetrical ways, natural elements, to list a few!
One of her main photographic projects was created in Des Moines called: #somewhereindesmoines. It depicts a mix of random city hilarities, unexpected landscape symmetries, and odd street circumstances. Tatiana finds beauty where the ugly dominates. That project started in June 2014 when she discovered for the first time Des Moines and spent long hours outside wandering the sunny streets with her tiny, lightweight film camera, ready to snap the minimal, hidden details her eye detected.
She is honored to showcase her work in multiples art shows in town since then:
